The remote control system consists of the remote control stand and alarm panel, and all necessary equipments for the remote control operation such as control handles, engine tachometer, thrust direction indicator, indication lamps and alarming device are provided on the remote control stand, The propeller thrust can be steered to any direction from the remote control stand in wheel house. With twin Z-peller drive, all kinds of maneuvering mode as quick halt, start, turning, spinning, rapid ahead and astern, side stepping and slow cruising can be performed from the wheel house.
Niigata's standard remote control stand is shown on Fig.-5 & 6. In Fig.-5, the twin handles located at the right hand on the control stand are used for engine speed and clutch engage control, the twin handles at the center are used for swivelling of Z-peller toward ahead and astern direction, and the wheel is used for steering control. We named this handle system "S-Con handle".
Fig. -6 shows single lever type (Uni Lever Type). In this type, any steering mode
for the twin Z-peller drive can be performed with one lever. Some examples of ship' s movement related to the propeller direction are shown on Fig. -7 and the photograph (Fig.-8) shows a tug boat during the spinning with twin Z-peller.
